Who is your fav horse?

海外オタクはウマ娘のことをそのまま “horse”（馬）と呼ぶことが多い。fav = favorite（お気に入り）の略。

正直、ゲームはやってないしアニメにも興味ない。ミームとファンアートを眺めてるだけの「にわか」だって自覚もある。
でも初めて「ミニーザレディ」を見た瞬間、魂がこう告げた気がしたんだ——「これだ。もう探さなくていい。最高の馬はこの子だ」って。

Bur when I first saw Mini The Lady I felt as if my whole soul had told me “This, this is the best horse. You can stop searching”

poser = 形だけ・にわかのファン。ミニーザレディ（Mini The Lady）は『ウマ娘 シンデレラグレイ』に登場するウマ娘。

（どこが好きかって？）おバカでドジっ子なのに、すごく可愛いんだよ。ふざけたり冗談を飛ばすのが好きみたいでさ。めったに見ないタイプの空気感を持ってて、そこがたまらなく好きなんだ。

She looks silly and dorky in very cute way, and by what I’ve been able to see she likes to fool around and crack jokes.

IDK, she just fits a very specific vibe of character I rarely see but I love a lot.

マンハッタンカフェを海外勢は “Cafe” と略す。

カフェってウマ娘界で一番の「電波系」なのか？

schizo = 直訳は統合失調症だが、ネットスラングでは「電波系・思い込みの激しい変わり者」を指す軽口。

ゲーム内だと超常現象は全部”本物”って設定なんだよ。彼女は幽霊が見えたり戦ったりできる、ああいうアニメの女の子系。『見える子ちゃん』にも似てる。

In game it’s clear that all super natural stuff is real. She is like those anime girls who can see or even fight ghosts and other things. She even looks like Miko from Mieruko-chan

『見える子ちゃん』(Mieruko-chan) = 幽霊が見えてしまう少女を描いたホラーコメディ作品。

アメリカ人としては、やっぱり自国のウマに惹かれちゃうんだよな。アメリカ馬のスピンオフが欲しい。

面白いのは、非アメリカ人の俺がオベイ（米国産ウマ）を（よこしまな理由で）大好きってこと。日本人が抱くアメリカ女性のステレオタイプ——巨乳・金髪・おおらか・騒がしくて小悪魔——そのまんまで、もう最高なんだよ。艦これのアイオワなんか、俺の中じゃ完璧なアメリカ白人女性像だわ。

Which is funny because, as a non-American, I love Obey so much for obvious perverted reasons. I just can’t get over how Japanese see you guys, with all the stereotypes associated with American women (like big tits, blonde, easy-going, loud, and naughty). The best example is Iowa from Kancolle, she is the perfect white American woman in my mind.

Kancolle（艦これ）=『艦隊これくしょん』。擬人化された軍艦が美少女として登場するゲーム。アイオワは米戦艦をモチーフにしたキャラ。

馬にバカっぽい名前を付けるのは、格式ある強そうな名前を持たない馬でも注目を集めて、馬券を買ってもらうための手なんだよ。

giving a horse a silly name is how you drum up interest and get people to bet on them if they don’t have a high tier crown name

なるほど、それで「Potoooooooo（ポテイトーズ）」とか「スキビディ・リズ」みたいな名前があるのか。

I guess that explains Potoooooooos and Skibidi Rizz.

Potoooooooo（”Pot”＋oが8つ）は18世紀イギリスの実在の名馬。”Potatoes”の綴りを馬丁が書き間違えたのが由来という逸話で有名。Skibidi Rizz はネットミーム由来の近年の実在競走馬名。

マンガでもよくやってるよ。有名どころだと「ミシェルマイベイビー」と「イーヴビンティ」。どっちも牡馬がモチーフなのに女の子の名前にされてる（元ネタの馬名は My Big Boy と Ibn Bey で、まるで女性的じゃない）。

They do that quite a bit in the manga.
The other notable ones are Michelle My Baby and Eve Binti, both “girl” names for umas based on stallions whose names don’t sound feminine in the slightest (My Big Boy and Ibn Bey).

（発情期だと速く走るの？という問いに）むしろ逆だよ。現実だと牝馬は発情期に成績がガタ落ちする。レースへの集中を失って、種牡馬を探そうとしちゃうんだ。スティルインラブがまさにそれで、牝馬三冠を獲った後、他の馬がいると不安定になって成績が落ちた。でも牝馬限定戦ではそこそこ走れたんだよ。

It makes them run worse, irl mares perform very badly while in estrus because they lose their focus on racing and look for a stallion to mate with instead, Still In Love was the core example of this as her performance tanked after winning the triple tiara since she got very unstable around racehorses, but had ok results in mare only races.

スティルインラブ（Still In Love）= 2003年に牝馬三冠を達成した実在の名牝。estrus = （動物の）発情期。

最初から金を生むために作られた企画なんだよ。一番のハードルは馬主から公式の許諾と権利を取ることで、それさえクリアできれば、あとはCygamesが世界観を作り込むだけだった。

It’s one of those ideas that it was just meant to make money from the get go, the biggest hurdle was getting the blessings and official rights from the horse owners and once they did cygames just had to nail the setting

大丈夫、だいじょうぶだよあのん。競走馬は死んだらウマ娘の世界に異世界転生して、そこで永遠に、お互いと走り続けられるんだ。

it will be daijoubu anon, race horses get isekai into umamusume so they can run against each other forever.

直前で「サイレンススズカやライスシャワーの実際の最期」（どちらもレース中の事故で亡くなった実在の名馬）に触れた流れを受けた、海外オタク流の優しいフォロー。daijoubu = 大丈夫。

ゲームもやり込んだし、アニメも全部観た。それでも俺の一番はやっぱりハルウララ。なんというか……友達になったら、すごく良いやつそうなんだよな。

I’ve played a lot of the game and watched all the animes.
After it all, my favorite is still Haru Urara.
She just seems like she would make a nice.friend.

ハルウララ（Haru Urara）= “113戦全敗”でも愛された実在の競走馬。「負け組の星」として2000年代に社会現象になった。
