セーラームーン、そろそろ復活してほしいよな。原作には詳しくないんだけど、武内直子ってガラクシア編が終わったあとに何か追加で描いたの？ キャストが英語版で別物の名前にされたのは知ってて、それを知ったときは全然うれしくなかった。ガラクシア以降にセーラームーンがどれだけ存在するのか、いまいち分からないんだ。

Sailor Moon could really use a comeback, I don’t know much about the manga but did Takeuchi really do much extra bonus material after the Galaxia arc ended? I know the cast got the Bort treatment and I wasn’t thrilled at all when I found out about that, but I’m not really sure how much SM exists after Galaxia

いや、10年前にデカい復活をしてるぞ。オリジナルアニメのリマスター再販、無修正の新吹替、原作の高品質な再版、そして2年前に完結したばかりの完全新作アニメ（＝Crystal）まで出た。ただ問題は、90年代前半ノスタルジーはもう一巡終わったってこと。今のトレンドはY2K（2000年前後）ノスタルジーなんだ。

it had a major comeback, ten years ago. got a remastered rerelease of the original anime, an uncensored new dub, better reprints of the manga, and an entirely new anime series that just wrapped up 2 years ago. the thing is early 90s nostalgia is basically over now, the current trend is for Y2K nostalgia.

Y2K = year 2000、2000年前後のファッション・カルチャー。

俺はスペイン語吹替で見てるんだけど、フィッシュアイは女性の声なのに、セリフでは「彼（he）」と呼ばれてた。で、あの兄弟は「大学を出たただの友達」ってことになってたよ。

I am watching it on spanish dub and even if Fish’s Eye has a female voice they still refer as a ”he” and the brothers were just college graduated friends

フィッシュアイ = 原作・日本版では男性のキャラだが、一部の海外吹替版では女性に変更された。

誰かに強制されたわけじゃないんだよ。セーラームーンは番組販売（シンジケーション）で売られていて、DiCはケーブル局がいちばん買いやすい形になるように編集しただけ。翻訳も声優も全部やったあげく、各局に「これは子どもが見ないから買わない」と言われるのが、彼らにとって最悪のシナリオだったんだ。

nobody required it. Sailor Moon was sold into syndication, DiC simply edited in such a way they believed would make it most marketable to cable networks so they’d buy it. the last thing they wanted was to put all the time and effort into translating and voice acting it, only for all the networks to say “we don’t think kids will watch this, so we won’t buy it”.

DiC = 90年代に北米でセーラームーン英語吹替を制作した会社。
シンジケーション = 番組を各放送局に個別販売する方式。

Crystalを見始めたんだけど、オリジナルに比べて魂が抜けてる（soulless）んだよな…。なんでキャラデザがこんなにダサいんだww なんで全部こんな駆け足なんだ？ Grendizer Uを思い出す。意味が分からん、2014年放送なのに、なんでコロナ後アニメと同じ問題を抱えてるんだ？

Crystal = 2014年放送の新作版『美少女戦士セーラームーンCrystal』。
soulless = 「魂がない・味気ない」。

（Crystalは）原作マンガにずっと忠実だよ。でもオリジナルアニメの方が断然“味（SOVL）”があって、プロットすら原作より良いって言ってもいいくらいだ。

It’s much more faithful to the manga. But the original anime is much more SOVL and arguably has a better plot than the manga.

SOVL = soul（魂）をわざと崩した綴り。「味がある」の意。

・1部：最初の4話を読んだら、Act5の前に「カサブランカ・メモリー」。Act8まで進めたら「セーラーV」。
・2部：Act15の前に「ちびうさ絵日記#1」。
・3部：Act27の前に絵日記#2、最終話のラスト（高校に上がる場面）の前に「受験戦争編」。

武内直子は“全員”なんだよ。自分のかけらを全キャラに入れたって本人が語ってる。たとえば彼女の高級車好きは、ハルカ（天王はるか）がレーサーって設定に表れてるんだ。

she’s all of the girls. she’s talked about how she put bits of herself in everyone; her love of exotic cars manifests in Haruka being a racing driver for example.

Miss Dream訳はかなりひどい。大学で何年か勉強した程度の妙な日本語レベルで、翻訳になると初心者級のミスを連発するんだ。日本語を学び始めたばかりの俺ですら気づくようなやつをね。

The Miss Dream translation is pretty bad. She has a weird level of Japanese where it’s like she probably completed several years of study at the college level or whatever but constantly makes beginner-tier mistakes when translating, like shit I caught as a beginning Japanese learner at the time

Miss Dream = セーラームーン原作の非公式ファン翻訳。

セーラームーン（アニメ版）を、あの“ほっこりコメディ”以外の目的で見てるなら、見方を間違えてるよ。

If you watch Sailor Moon (the anime) for anything other than the comfy comedy, you’re watching it wrong.

comfy = 「ほっこりする・居心地がいい」。
