俺は2chミームを大量に英訳した経験がある立場から言わせてもらうが、2chミームを「Reddit的なクソ翻訳」に堕とさず、意味をちゃんと伝える形で翻訳するのは別に難しくない。2chミームの大半は声に出すとウザいんだが、それは「newfag」や「troll」を口にされた時のウザさと同種なんだよ。リロイ・ジェンキンス参照や「I HERD U X SO I PUT Y SO YOU CAN Z」みたいなのとは全然違う。ミームをああいう形で「ローカライズ」する作業は、つまるところ意図的に視聴者を怒らせるだけのプロセス。それだけ。

Speaking as someone who’s translated a shitton of 2ch memes into English, it isn’t hard at all to adapt them in a way that conveys what they are without lapsing into retarded Reddit bullshit. Most 2ch memes are obnoxious as hell when they’re said out loud, but they’re typically obnoxious in the way hearing somebody say “newfag” or “troll” is obnoxious. It’s wildly different from Leeroy Jenkins references or I HERD U X SO I PUT Y SO YOU CAN Z or whatever the fuck. The entire process of “localizing” memes is an intentional attempt to make people mad. That is literally all it is.

“I HERD U X SO I PUT Y SO YOU CAN Z” = “Yo Dawg” 系入れ子構文ミームを意図的に下手な綴りで表したもの。
